Suffering From Joint Pain?

Joint pain can be caused by any number of things. It can be the result of an injury or overuse of the joint. If your joint pain is caused by arthritis, you will need to begin your search for an effective way to treat it. But, in order to do that, you need to know the symptoms of arthritis. All forms of arthritis share the common symptoms of severe pain, loss of range of motion, and a diminished quality of life. What you will find is that this painful, life altering condition can be found in any individual at any time of their lives. But, there are joint pain treatments that can be effective.
The first thing to do when you have joint pain is to go to a doctor. Symptoms of arthritis include severe pain in the joints and other factors as mentioned above. If your pain is accompanied with fever, the advice of a doctor is urgent because this specific type of arthritis can be deadly. Arthritis can be brought on by any number of things including overuse of the joint, sports, injury, and degeneration of the joints through time. In any case, it is important to relay to your doctor when it was first noticed, any related injuries you may have had, and what types of activities you perform on a regular basis. Your doctor will determine if the pain is arthritis through x-rays and blood tests. Once the doctor knows which type you have, treatments can begin.
For instance, the joint pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis is a function of the immune system destroying the cartilage in the joints affected. Cartilage is what keeps the bones from grinding against each other. As your immune system eats away at your joint cartilage, pain is brought on by the formation of nerve endings in the affected area. Eventually, the pain is so sever that mobility in those joints is virtually impossible.
But, again, there are treatments that can help or reverse the damage and pain. Your doctor can lead your treatment and some things you might expect could include surgery, pain medication, physical therapy, and even loss of use of the joint. But, there are other forms of medication as well. In fact, one of the most beneficial medications is a simple natural food supplement that is not even medicine at all. It is a natural treatment that is called collagen type II. When taken, this product can stop the pain by stopping the immune system’s battle against your joints. It can then help to repair damage. In some cases, patients saw results within days, in others it took up to a few months. There are no known side effects of this treatment.
No matter what your joint pain is caused from or how you will treat it, the most important thing to remember is that you can find treatment. You can find it in a number of ways, which gives everyone a solution to try. Joint pain can effectively change and ruin your life if you let it. Or, you can fight back and regain your body’s well being.

Acne and Exercise

Moderate exercise is actually good for your skin. It helps you maintain a healthy body and manage your stress levels, too. If you find your acne is aggravated by regular exercise, then you may want to examine your routine. What do you wear? Where do you go? How hard do you work? Exercise-related acne is usually caused by something you put on your body rather something you do with it. Remove these outside factors, and you may put an end to your workout breakouts. Here are just a few things to watch for.
Acne & Exercise - Make-up. When exercising, wear as little make-up as possible. Even oil-free and non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) cosmetics can clog pores if worn during heavy exercise. When you’re done working out, wash as soon as possible.
Acne & Exercise - Sunscreen. If your regimen takes you outdoors, always wear sunscreen. While acne may improve slightly after brief periods in the sun, studies show that prolonged exposure actually promotes comedones (clogged pores) and, of course, sun damage. Some kinds of acne medication make skin more sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen is even more important. When choosing a sunscreen, look for products that are oil-free and have a protection factor of at least SPF 15 for both UVA and UVB rays. Like make-up, sunscreen can travel across the skin’s surface and lodge in the pores — so wash immediately after working out.
Acne & Exercise - Clothing. If you’re prone to body acne, avoid garments made exclusively with lycra or nylon. Why? Some synthetic fabrics can trap the heat and moisture against your skin, creating a fertile breeding ground for the bacteria that contribute to acne. For moderate exercise, your best bet is lightweight, loose-fitting cotton, or a lycra-cotton blend. Natural fabrics allow the skin to breathe, and loose garments are less likely to cause friction. If you’re exercising vigorously and working up a good sweat, however, you may want to try some of the new fabrics designed to wick moisture away from your skin.
Acne & Exercise - Equipment. Some people are more likely to get acne or have their lesions aggravated in the areas affected by sports equipment. The best defense against friction-related breakouts is a good fit — make sure your helmet doesn’t slide around on your forehead, or your wetsuit isn’t too tight under the arms. You can also curb equipment-triggered breakouts by lining your helmet with a layer of soft, washable cotton fabric; it's a great use for those old t-shirts, too. And no matter what the sport, it’s always a good idea to keep your equipment clean and dry when not in use.
Acne & Exercise - Moisture. Mom was right: You should get out of those wet clothes! No matter how you get your exercise — treadmill, trail, tennis court, or whatever — don’t sit around in your sweaty clothes or wet bathing suit when you’re done. If you can, shower off immediately and change into dry clothes before driving home. If this isn’t possible, change into dry clothes and wipe down as well as you can. When toweling sweat off your face, always use a clean towel, and blot gently rather than wipe. Vigorous wiping can irritate your skin, driving make-up and sunscreen deeper into the pores.
Acne & Exercise - Showering. Again, it’s best to shower immediately after working out. You may want to use a medicated exfoliant cleanser, but always be gentle with your skin. Scrubbing harder isn’t going to make you any cleaner, or make your acne go away — and it may actually irritate existing lesions or promote the development of new ones. If you can't shower right away, you can still curb breakouts by wiping down with medicated pads; keep a few in your gym bag just in case.
So keep up the good work! A healthy exercise program is an integral part of your overall health; and a healthy body is more likely to have healthy skin. Just keep an eye on the various factors that accompany your regimen, and try to remove the acne triggers — you’ll be on your way to breakout-free workouts.

Five Essentials Factors for a Good Night Sleep

Expert advice from a world renowned Medical Doctor on How to Stop Snoring.

By K. J. Castro

When the clock strikes at 5:00 pm, all you want to do is hurry home after a busy and tiring day. The first thing that would come to any one's mind is lie down on their bed and take a nap. Sleeping helps our body gain back the energy we lost after a long day's work. At the same time, it is the best way to relax both our body and mind. Having a good night sleep is not as easy as it may sound. You need to consider some factors that will help you have a relaxing and a really good sleep.

1. Noise Level. Some people can sleep even with so many noises around them, while others cannot even feel drowsy with just the sound coming from the electric fan. In order to have the sleep you want, avoid too much noise pollution (although it depends on the person). Soft or mellow music can help the body optimize the relaxing environment it needs. It could rejuvenate our hormones and leave our mind in peace. Usually, instrumental music with light tunes and melody are advisable so as not to wake us up in the middle of the night.

2. Lighting. Turning off the light or leaving it on depends on the person's preference. There are those who prefer to sleep while the light is on. The reason behind this is maybe because they're too afraid of the dark, especially with ages between 2-7 years old when the imagination can get a little bit wild. However, it is advisable to turn off the light when sleeping, because the light can trigger our hormones that keep us awake. And besides, when you are in bed, it should connote for sleeping time and any light present can tell otherwise.

3. Room Temperature. It is important to leave your room in a cool temperature, neither too warm nor too cold. Cool room can help your body relax and rest a little better. Also it could give us a better sleeping habit. It will make you feel comfortable if the humid is right in your bedroom. Too warm can make you feel unease and therefore disturb you in having a good night sleep.

4. Bed Condition. When choosing your bed to sleep on, it has to be comfy and could invite you to lie down at the moment you see it. Make sure that your bed sheets and bed covers are clean, as well as your pillows. Also, it should make your back and muscles relax while lying down. Avoid too crowded bed, if possible choose a king size bed where you can toss and turn around without any worries.

5. Sleep Hygiene. Last but certainly not the least, before going to bed, you should make sure that your body is really conditioned in sleeping. Being too excited or too happy can make your sleeping a little difficult. While being too tired can leave you awake for just a second. Make sure that your bed room really is just for sleeping. Avoid putting television or book shelves so as not to invite you in other task just before you go to bed.
The fact is we spend one-third of our life sleeping. Above examples are simple and common sleeping factors that are so important. Spending some time planning about your every day sleep, will save your time and make sure you have the best rest for next day's challenges. Sleep Perfect!

How to Stop Sweating So Much and Possibly Avoid the Knife

By Jerry Peachey

Oh man, I was really over a barrel on this sweaty armpits thing. I didn't know how to fix it. My shirt-buying budget was exploding, and none of them ever looked good on me anyway, what with all the Swamp Thing activity going on in the arm-crotch. I was constantly self-conscious. If I tried to use a little alcohol to take the edge off, it just made me sweat more. Every picture of me was a scary proposition. Why do those flashes seem to pull that sweat ring right out of the picture?
I didn't know what to do, so I just started Googling. And Googling. While I'm no doctor and I never had a diagnosis, it seems that the name for my excessive armpit sweating is hyperhidrosis.
Hyperhidrosis seems to be well understood in the medical community and there are a range of possible treatments, including:
  • Lifestyle change: Cut back on alcohol and spicy foods and hot showers and other fun stuff. Mostly "prescribed" as a natural remedy, but not by doctors - and hardly sustainable.
  • Antiperspirants: Treatments usually start with "strong" anti-perspirants (10-15% aluminum chloride hexahydrate). With a prescription, even stronger anti-perspirants are available. Everything I read suggested that these could lead to skin irritation, which made me especially nervous because I'm allergic to some over-the-counter deodorants.
  • Medication: Something called an antichollergenics drug can prevent sweat gland stimulation. Apparently these aren't universally effective and have a lot of side effects, including dry mouth and dizziness.
  • Iontophoresis: This is FDA-approved, but mostly for head and feet sweating. It involves putting your hands or feet in water and running low-level electrical currents through. Yikes! But maybe it will work for you. Ask the doc.
  • Botox: Yeah, that's right. Botox! Apparently they can pump this in you to stop excessive armpit sweating by temporarily blocking the nerves that make it happen. Wow, that sounds serious, but talk to your doctor if you think it might work, I suppose. There are definitely some side effects there - including serious pain.
  • Surgery: I suppose if you're suffering from a pretty severe case, and none of the above seems to work, you might want to try surgery. Listen, I feel ya. At some point you're probably willing to try anything. There are a wide range of surgical techniques which involve removing either nerves that trigger sweating or the sweat glands themselves. Different approaches are recommended for different issues (i.e. underarm vs hands vs feet). Talk to your healthcare provider.
IMPORTANT: Sometimes, excessive sweating can be an indication of a serious health problem, so always consult your physician FIRST, especially if the problem occurred suddenly or is combined with weight loss, fever or lack of appetite.
